Shake Shack is Giving Me All the Feels

Just looking at this picture, I'm melting almost as much as that house-made creamy cheese sauce atop those fries:

I just going to go ahead and say that I am unable to not demolish this in 3.4 seconds.

Girlish figure be damned, there are times when a juicy burger, a whole slew of cheese fries, a strawberry milkshake, and, heaven forgive me, a heaping cup of something called s'mores concrete must happen.

This was one of those times. I regret nothing.

It's in the Shops at Buckhead Atlanta, the luxury retail, residential, and office development in the heart of Atlanta’s vibrant Buckhead neighborhood.

I gotta say, I'm a fan of the neon burger hanging on the wall; that's just dead clever:

I actually hadn't even heard of Shake Shack before we had lunch there recently. Apparently the place has got something of a cult following, though, from the New York area. I like their story, so I'll paste it here:

Shake Shack sprouted from a hot dog cart in Madison Square Park in Manhattan to support the Madison Square Park Conservancy’s first art installation. The cart was quite the success, with Shack Fans lined up daily for three summers.

In 2004, the bid was won to open a permanent kiosk in the Park: Shake Shack was born. This modern day “roadside” burger stand serves up the most delicious burgers, hot dogs, frozen custard, shakes, beer, wine and more. An instant neighborhood fixture, Shake Shack welcomed people from all over the city, country, and world who gathered together to enjoy fresh, simple, high-quality versions of the classics in a majestic setting. The rest, as they say, is burger history.

Maybe I like that story because it makes me nostalgic for my college memories interning at Glamour Magazine in Manhattan (Brooklyn Heights, represent!), spending summer days relaxing on the grass with friends, catching the free performances that pop up every now and then, grabbing bites to eat, and just generally having a good time. So shouts out to Shake Shake for having a sweet origin story.

Let's get back to present day and my hungry tummy.

Inside felt spacious and balanced. Walking up the giant menu on the wall, I was pleased to see so many location-specific menu items, such as the Peachtree milkshake and the Pecan Pie Oh My. Even their frozen custard concretes are made with local ingredients from H&F Bread Co and Cacao Atlanta Chocolate Co. That was pretty cool.

I think that kind of attention to detail is what has made this brand grow so well - that and darn good food. (You can also buy beer and wine here, so I'm sure that helps.) They even have menu items for your pooch.

I was really happy with my choice. It didn't look this pretty for long.

I also like Shake Shack's involvement in the community. Their Atlanta partner is Camp Twin Lakes, which means Shake Shack donates 5% of the sales from the Campfire S'mores concrete (which I ordered) to support Camp Twin Lakes, providing year-round camp experiences for children with serious illnesses and life challenges.

High five for that partnership. Will other Atlanta restaurants and businesses follow suit??
