LottaFrutta is Ripe & Fresh
Let me tell you about a flavorful secret tucked away in Old Fourth Ward neighborhood...
OK, maybe it's not much of a secret anymore. It's been around for years now, but if you're like me and have driven past it a trillion times but have yet to go in, the time has come.
I have my friend Diallo to thank for introducing me to LottaFrutta Gourmet Fruit House & Market, a fresh fruit shop infused with heavy doses of Mexican, Ecuadorian, and Cuban flavor. And it is delicious.
But first: are you ready for an explosion of color? Walking into LottaFrutta is like being awash with all that is cheerful and tickled pink with life:
Even their signature Mini Cooper is cheerful:
Open daily 9 am to 5 pm, LottaFrutta is located at 590 Auburn Ave NE, Atlanta, GA 30312, within steps of Martin Luther King's birth home.
You enter LottaFrutta and peruse their large menu of fruit cups, salads, smoothies, sandwiches, and baked goods for a bit...
...before finally settling upon what you want. I had the Dolce Vitta, and if I could eat this every single day I would. Here's how they describe it:
Dolce Vitta: start with fresh cut apple, banana, kiwi, mango, melon, orange, pineapple, and watermelon topped with a creamy vanilla yogurt, crunchy granola, and a drizzle of honey. Ahhh, the sweet life?
It was poetry in a cup, let me tell you. It never would occur to me to drizzle honey on fruit, but sweet baby Jesus, it was the best thing ever.
Diallo had the Limonatta. Here's how it's described:
Limonatta: a combination of fresh cut raw coconut, cucumber, mango, melon, papaya, pineapple, and watermelon, topped with fresh lime juice and spicy chile guajillo. A unique, sweet, tart, and spicy treat!
This is definitely the good life.
Many thanks to the owner Myrna for bringing a shop like this to Atlanta. (And congrats on your second location in Hartsfield-Jackon Atlanta Airport!) You and Chichi definitely give this place heart and soul, and sooo much flavor.
