This post goes out to all of my edm lovers out there…
TomorrowWorld was unlike anything I’ve ever experienced before. It is full-throttle energy, bass that makes your heartbeat question its own tempo, and wall-to-wall people with huge smiles on their faces because this is the best weekend of their lives.
I am so glad that I was one of those people.
You have got to check out their Facebook page for the best photos of the weekend.
I stan for edm!
For the uninitiated, “edm” stands for electronic dance music, and you might consider it an acquired taste. Definitely not pop music, the DJs who spin edm use electronics and synthesizers to create deep bass tracks that rock your body and bring thousands of people together.
This video will tell you everything you need to know about TomorrowWorld:
The fandom for edm cannot be denied. TomorrowWorld itself attracted more than 160,000 people to Atlanta, and there are edm music festivals all the time, worldwide.
To show you how crazy I am about edm, consider this: I was reeeeally torn trying to decide whether to go to TomorrowWorld or the Outkast #ATLast concert.
As in, I actually considered not going to Outkast, so I could go to TomorrowWorld. Yeah.
Luckily, I was able to do both. TomorrowWorld on Saturday and Outkast on Sunday!
Back to TomorrowWorld. Here are a couple of quick facts and then I will let the pictures do the talking:
- TomorrowWorld is a large electronic music festival held in Chattahoochee Hills, Georgia, which is 30 minutes outside of Atlanta.
- This festival is an American spin-off of Holland-based Tomorrowland.
- Hundreds of world-renowned DJ’s perform on multiple stages for more than 160,000 people (from 75 different countries), including more than 40,000 people who camp at the festival on-site, for four days.
- The campsite is called DreamVille, and has hundreds of tents and camping amenities.
The main thing to know about TomorrowWorld is that it’s almost a state of mind. Their tagline is “Yesterday is History, Today is a Gift, Tomorrow is Mystery…” So stay in the moment, appreciate your life, and allow yourself to be taken over by magic.
So in that spirit, let’s get started!
See the above aerial shot, courtesy of TomorrowWorld’s website? That’s us partying across 8,000 acres of forested area.
This is the lineup of DJ’s that gave us the weekend of our lives:
Can you feel the energy?? I was particularly psyched to see Steve Aoki, David Guetta, Skrillex, and Diplo.
The important thing to know about TomorrowWorld is that it’s a marathon, not a sprint. You’ve got to find ways to conserve energy, even though the music makes you want to scream and dance non-stop.
After all, I was there for 11 straight hours on Saturday:
I loved making new friends from all over the world. Shouts out to Maria, Alex, and Alejandra! Viva Mexico and Venezuela!
Check out the TomorrowWorld YouTube channel to experience more of the event.
The people watching was almost as good as the music:
I didn’t wear a costume, but I did paint my face, a little. See the gold glitter flowers on the sides of my eyes?
While I sincerely wish my hair was blue, I am glad I kept it simple, so the other media people didn’t look at me like I was crazy, LOL.
Here are some more of the sights:
So, daytime was great to soak up the sun and see the sights, but nighttime is when everything came alive.
As normal airplanes flew overhead, I found myself wondering if the passengers were looking out their windows, seeing the madness going on below them. This festival has blinding lights, volcanoes, fire, smoke, glitter, glow sticks, water, flags, and enough noise to burst eardrums. I bet it’s a helluva sight to see from 40,000 feet above!
I’ve never been in a plane looked down and seen something bizarre. Have you?
Anywho, I checked in at the media tent periodically, whenever I needed to recharge my cell phone or grab a water or some nibbles. I’ve got to hand it to Premier Agency for taking such great care of the journalists at this event. It made all the difference in the world to be able to recharge our batteries from time to time, both electronic and physical.
I loved grabbing this quick pic of Steve Aoki while he was doing an interview in the media tent:
I loved it even more when he got on stage! PRESS PLAY ► below:
And fire balls ripped out of volcanoes and lit up the night sky.
It was a perfect, perfect experience. I can’t wait for TomorrowWorld 2015!
