I really like Midtown Atlanta and haven’t had a chance to explore some of the newer restaurants in the area. So when my friend Natalie invited me to brunch on a sweet Scoutmob deal at Max’s Wine Dive, I jumped at the chance.
First of all, I love Scoutmob. It’s a great, local, daily-deal type of site, and all you do is show up to one of the several places that are offering a deal and show them your app to redeem the deal. Nat had gotten us a Handpicked deal, so it was a little more elaborate, and I enjoyed every bite.
As soon as you walk in, there are immediate indicators that this place has a sense of humor, including this sticker on the hostess stand:
We arrived at 11 am, before anyone else had arrived, so we temporarily the whole place to ourselves.
We found a spot, and then I started to notice the artwork.
Over-sized mugshots of music legends? Sure, why not! Johnny Cash and James Brown, among others.
And I support this fishnet-stocking’d replica of the unforgettable lamp from “A Christmas Story”:
Cheers to all of that!
Our server’s t-shirt was spot on:
We tucked in to our menus…
… and ordered fried green tomatoes and Eggs Benedict, French Toast, and sausage and jalapeno grits, with a side of banana fritters.
In true me fashion, I ate every morsel. I leaned back, put on my shades, and sipped my grapefruit champagne. Yes, ma’am.
This place likes to have playful brunch themes, so be sure to add them to your brunch spot bucket list.
And definitely get your parking validated. The hostess will validate it for you for two hours (be sure to park in the correct parking deck for that restaurant). Because if you don’t validate, you will pay a $30 (thirty dollar) parking fee! For one hour of parking!
This was my face when I saw that:
Glad I validated!
You’ll find Max’s Wine Dive at 77 12th St NE, Atlanta, GA 30309. (Update: this place has since closed!)
